Picture Smart

Visuals are helpful to many learners and I am no exception.  I have created 8 posters to enhance the thinking of students at all levels.  The strategy I developed is called “Brain Translations” and it is simple to use.

  1. Come up with a word or concept the learner needs to know.
  2. Define it so the learner has some idea of the meaning.
  3. Have the learner do question #1 on each poster, using this ‘new’ word.
  4. Reflect with the learner on what happened.

Teachers all over the country report that students are motivated, interested, and coming up with much higher level connections to words they need to master.  And not only that, they report that is is ‘FUN” to do.

You can download these posters at no charge.  I’d love some feedback on how effective they were for your students.
